Future of technology in healthcare with NOHO and ArangoDB

"Noho’s mission is to contribute to the quality of life of people suffering from lymphedema."

by Jean-Baptiste Valsamis CTO @ Noho.care

What is your use case?

My co-founder and I want to contribute to the quality of life of people who suffer from lymphedema. Around the globe there are over 10 million people living with this disease and we believe that we can help them live a better life through data-enhanced treatment.

Our solution is composed of a connected bandage full of sensors, a mobile application and a management platform that patients and practitioners can access via the Internet. The platform computes the optimum level for each tracked parameter in order to optimize the reduction of the lymphedema and allows patients and practitioners to access their accounts to follow up of the evolution of the treatments.

What problem did ArangoDB solve for you?

ArangoDB is very stable and by the great documentation and support of the community we got quickly up to speed.

We use ArangoDB to solve two problems:

  • We have implemented a patient record management platform. Practitioner can add, edit and view medical history of each patient.
  • We have developed a connected bandage monitoring physical values such as pressure, temperature. All these data are collected as time series linked to a bandage. This data can be analysed and viewed through our platform.

What is your experience with using ArangoDB in production?

Our current experiences are very good. ArangoDB is very stable and by the great documentation and support of the community we got quickly up to speed.

As we deal with personal data our next challenge is to fulfill the required certifications in order to offer the guarantee of a completely secured environment for patients and practitioners.

Big thanks to Jean-Baptiste Valsamis for investing time to write this article!
